Opposition disrupts National Assembly, Speaker announces one-hour recess
In response, Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal announced a one-hour suspension of the meeting.
KATHMANDU: The National Assembly session was disrupted by opposition parties as they raised objections when proceedings were about to begin.
In response, Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal announced a one-hour suspension of the meeting.
As opposition lawmakers stood up to protest, Speaker Dahal allowed Tul Prasad Biskarma, a lawmaker from the National Janamorcha party, to speak.
Biskarma raised concerns about the government’s dismissal of Kulman Ghising, the managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
He stated that the opposition had demanded an explanation from the Prime Minister regarding the issue, but the Prime Minister was not held accountable to the House.
As a result, Biskarma called for the session to be adjourned.
Speaker Dahal appealed for cooperation in preserving the dignity of the National Assembly, urging lawmakers to take active steps to resolve the issues.
Despite his repeated calls for cooperation and the resumption of the session, opposition lawmakers continued their protests, prompting the Speaker to announce a one-hour recess.
