NPL: Lumbini Lions opt to bowl first against Chitwan Rhinos
Captain Rohit Paudel led the decision after winning the toss at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, inviting Chitwan Rhinos to bat.
KATHMANDU: The fourth day of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will feature a thrilling match between Chitwan Rhinos and Lumbini Lions.
The match will take place at the TU Ground, with a scheduled start time of 4:00 PM.
Lumbini Lions won the toss and chose to bowl first, meaning Chitwan Rhinos will bat first. In a tactical change, Chitwan has replaced Bipin Acharya with Amar Singh Rautela in their playing XI.
Lumbini, on the other hand, has included talented young player Samir Ali in their starting lineup.
This will be Lumbini’s first match of the tournament, while Chitwan is coming off a solid win in their opening game, where they defeated Karnali Yaks by 4 wickets.
Lumbini, led by Nepal’s national team captain Rohit Paudel, will be looking to start their campaign with a win.
Lumbini had a disappointing performance in the previous season, finishing at the bottom of the league. As a result, they will be eager to bounce back with a strong showing this time.
With Rohit Paudel’s leadership and the inclusion of experienced players like Afghanistan’s all-rounder Gulbadin Naib and middle-order batsman Sandeep Jora, Lumbini will be hoping for a turnaround this season.
For Chitwan, their opening pair of foreign players, Max O’Dowd and Priyank Panchal, made a significant impact in their win against Karnali.
Chitwan also has the advantage of having played under floodlights in their opening match, which could prove crucial in today’s game.
This match will also mark the completion of the first phase of the tournament, with 8 teams having played their opening matches.
Chitwan will be looking to secure their second win, while Lumbini aims to start their NPL journey on a high note.
