KATHMANDU: New Zealand emerged victorious in the Tri-Nation ODI Series, defeating hosts Pakistan by five wickets in the final on Friday.

While New Zealand dominated, South Africa failed to secure a single win. In the group stage, New Zealand outclassed Pakistan by 78 runs in their opening match and later defeated South Africa by six wickets.

South Africa lost both of their matches, first against New Zealand and then against Pakistan, each by six wickets.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, the tournament’s runner-up, bounced back from their opening defeat to beat South Africa and secure a spot in the final.

For the ICC Champions Trophy, New Zealand and Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside India and Bangladesh.

Group B consists of South Africa, Afghanistan, Australia, and England.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

The Champions Trophy kicks off with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match. South Africa will begin their campaign against Afghanistan on Friday, while the final is scheduled for March 9.
