NEPSE surges 30.75 points as financial & insurance stocks lead gains

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 30.75 points, closing at 2,631.14, marking a 1.18% increase.

A total of 319 companies saw 29,738,139 shares traded across 68,112 transactions, amounting to Rs 920.31 crore in total turnover.

While the Trading sector index fell by 0.10%, all other sectoral indices showed gains.

The Financial sector led with a 5.17% rise, followed by Life Insurance at 4.35%.

Other sector movements included:

  • Banking: +0.29%

  • Development Banks: +0.90%

  • Hotels & Tourism: +1.20%

  • Hydropower: +1.18%

  • Investment: +0.80%

  • Manufacturing & Processing: +0.96%

  • Microfinance: +1.38%

  • Mutual Funds: +0.10%

  • Non-life Insurance: +1.33%

  • Others: +1.23%

Notably, Community Microfinance Financial Institution Ltd., Guras Finance Ltd., Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Ltd., Peoples Power Ltd., and Tehrathum Power Company Ltd. hit the positive circuit limit.

On the downside, Khanikhola Hydropower Ltd. saw the largest decline of 4.76%.

In terms of trading volume and turnover, Himalayan Bank Ltd. Promoter shares recorded the highest activity with 14,06,217 shares traded, valued at Rs 166.50 crore.
