KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a slight decline today, dropping by 8.24 points to close at 2,622.89.

According to NEPSE, a total of 12.18 million shares from 333 companies were traded 54,892 times, amounting to a total turnover of Rs 6.05 billion.

In today’s session, the Development Bank (+1.11%), Hotel and Tourism (+0.01%), Manufacturing and Processing (+0.25%), Mutual Fund (+0.29%), Trading (+0.93%), and Others (+0.42%) sub-indices recorded gains, while all other sectors posted losses.

The Banking (-0.22%), Finance (-0.12%), Hydropower (-1.05%), Investment (-0.70%), Life Insurance (-1.05%), Microfinance (-0.63%), and Non-life Insurance (-0.01%) groups declined.

Muktinath Krishi Company Ltd. saw the highest gain of the day, surging by 9.99%, while Eastern Hydropower Ltd. hit the negative circuit, recording the steepest fall.

In terms of trading volume and turnover, Shivam Cements Ltd. led the market with transactions worth Rs 376.8 million, involving 619,114 shares.
