KATHMANDU: Aiming to elevate Nepali hip-hop to a new level, the reality show “The Rapper: Let The Verse Speak” Season 1 has been officially announced.

The show is being promoted as Nepal’s first commercial rap reality television format.

Organized by NXG Entertainment and directed by Yuvraj Saud, the program will be broadcast on Himalaya Television.

It is scheduled to air from the second week of Jestha, although the exact premiere date has not yet been finalized.

The show will run for a total of 20 episodes and is supported by Highlights Nepal as its digital partner, while Khalti will serve as the official voting partner.

From nationwide digital auditions, more than 7,000 applicants participated, and 64 contestants have been selected to compete.

These artists will showcase their lyrical skills, musical creativity, composition, and rap performance across multiple stages.

Renowned rapper Girish Khatiwada (Gorkhali G) will serve as the main judge, evaluating contestants on lyrics, music, delivery, technical skills, and overall artistic versatility.

The squad leaders include Bibash Jamarkattel (Bibash JK), Bibek Ghorasaini (BG Bir Gorkhali), Sanket Shrestha (OMG Spark), and Jagat Pun (Rex), who will mentor contestants throughout the competition.

The show will progress through elimination rounds, narrowing down to the Top 16, then the Top 10, and finally Top 4 finalists.

Voting will be split 50/50 between judges and audience from Top 16 to Top 10, after which public voting alone will determine the outcome.

The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 million along with a trophy, while the finalists will also be offered an international tour opportunity.
