KATHMANDU: The cult classic film ‘Tumbbad’ (2018) is set to return with a highly anticipated sequel this year. Known for its striking visual storytelling, the original left a profound impact on audiences, creating significant expectations for ‘Tumbbad 2’.

Fans eagerly awaiting the new installment now have reason to celebrate: acclaimed Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has officially joined the project.

The film’s producers confirmed Siddiqui’s involvement through social media, describing his addition to the ‘Tumbbad’ universe as a major creative decision.

While details about his role remain under wraps, insiders suggest that his character will deepen the psychological and emotional tone of the story.

Expressing his excitement, Siddiqui said, “I have always admired the originality and dark atmosphere of ‘Tumbbad’. When Soham Shah (producer) shared the vision for the sequel, I was immediately drawn to the story. It’s an incredibly immersive and committed project, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

The original ‘Tumbbad’, produced on a budget of approximately INR 15 crore, earned a total gross of INR 53.46 crore in India, including its 2024 re-release.

The re-release alone contributed INR 30.5 crore, making it the highest-grossing Indian film upon re-release. The film also had the distinction of premiering at the Venice Film Festival.
