KATHMANDU: Nabil Bank, in collaboration with Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital and Seti Provincial Hospital, is organizing a “Nabil Free Burn Treatment Camp” at Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi from Feb 24 to 26.

The initiative, part of Nabil Bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, aims to provide consultation, treatment, and surgical care to burn victims, particularly those who are economically disadvantaged and suffering from long-term complications.

The bank expects to benefit more than 120 patients in the first phase of the camp.

The camp will cover patients with severe burn injuries, including those with contracted or immobile body parts, scalp loss, fused fingers, multiple fused toes, injuries requiring surgery, and foot deformities caused by burns or explosions.

For complex cases, arrangements have been made to provide free treatment at Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Kathmandu.

“This camp is an effort to relieve the suffering of burn victims and improve their quality of life,” the bank said, emphasizing its commitment to expanding such camps across other provinces in Nepal.

According to government statistics, around 56,000 burn incidents occur in Nepal annually, resulting in an average of 2,100 deaths.

Many survivors suffer from contractures or fused limbs, which can lead to long-term disabilities.

Lack of local burn treatment centers forces patients to travel to Kathmandu for specialized care, making it difficult for economically vulnerable individuals to access timely and quality treatment.
