MP Badu praises PM’s firm stand on Nepal’s border with India & China
MP Badu praised Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for raising a clear objection to the India-China agreement on using Lipulekh as a trade route, stating that the move was made without Nepal’s knowledge or consent.
KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu has emphasized that Parliament, political parties, civil society, and the media must stand united in defending the country’s borders, geographical integrity, and national sovereignty.
Speaking at the House of Representatives session on Wednesday, MP Badu praised Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for raising a clear objection to the India-China agreement on using Lipulekh as a trade route, stating that the move was made without Nepal’s knowledge or consent.
“According to the press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and the Foreign Secretary, the Prime Minister expressed clear objection to the agreement on establishing Lipulekh as a trade route with China’s President in China, without Nepal’s involvement or consent,” Badu said. “I want to thank the Prime Minister and the government for this commendable action.”
MP Badu also expressed support for the Prime Minister’s firm stance in China regarding Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limpiyadhura as integral parts of Nepal’s territory.
He highlighted that, according to the Sugauli Treaty, the Mahakali River originates from Limpiyadhura, and its upper reaches belong to Nepal, making any agreements without Nepal’s consent invalid.
“I am confident that all Nepali citizens, political parties, Parliament, civil society, and the media remain united on this issue, as they have in the past,” Badu added.
Prime Minister Oli recently conveyed Nepal’s position clearly during his meeting with President Xi Jinping during his visit to China, particularly concerning the India-China agreement.
