KATHMANDU: The censoring of the Nepali film ‘Malati Mangale’ has been successfully completed despite ongoing confusion following the government’s issuance of the “Special Provision on Dismissal of Public Office Holders Ordinance–2083,” which led to the automatic removal of members of the Film Censor Board.
Amid this institutional vacuum, concerns had arisen over how film certification would continue. However, the censor process for ‘Malati Mangale’ was carried out smoothly, with the film receiving a “Universal” certificate, allowing audiences of all age groups to watch it.
The certificate was received in person by producer and singer Ram Krishna Dhakal.

The film, running for 2 hours and 38 minutes, was reviewed under an interim arrangement in which the Film Development Board delegated its representative, Deepa Basnet, to participate in the censor process.
Other ex-officio members from various ministries were also present, enabling the procedure to proceed in accordance with existing provisions that ensure continuity of essential services.
Produced under the banner of Rani Films in collaboration with Uni Entertainment, ‘Malati Mangale’ is directed and written by Praku Pandey, with screenplay and dialogue by Sanjog Guragai.
The film features performances by Bijay, Barsha, and Maksam, alongside veteran actors Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Naren Thapa, Mansu Sapkota, Sushma Niraula, Sunil Tamang, and others.
Several promotional materials—including the trailer, teaser, and songs such as ‘Sunaiko Sapani’, ‘Dhunga Mathi Leu’, and the dance number ‘Jhyam Param’—have already been released, generating strong audience interest.
The film’s executive producer is Sagar Ghimire, while Bablu Subedi, Robin Shrestha, Bedana Karmacharya, Padmavati Gurung, Swikriti Basnet, and Milan Bajgai serve as co-producers.
Technically, the film features cinematography by Mahesh Paudel, editing by Romi Mozes, color grading by Krishna Bhattarai, background score by Sujil Karmacharya, and sound design by Dinesh Khadka.
Distributed by RR Films, ‘Malati Mangale’ is set for theatrical release this Friday, with the production team confident it will deliver full-scale entertainment to audiences.
