Mayor Shah urges PM Oli to raise Lipulekh issue during China visit
Through social media, Mayor Shah reminded the Prime Minister to inform the Chinese government that Lipulekh is part of Nepal’s territory.
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has extended his best wishes to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for his China visit, while urging him to address the issue of Lipulekh.
Through social media, Mayor Shah reminded the Prime Minister to inform the Chinese government that Lipulekh is part of Nepal’s territory.
In his message, Mayor Shah wrote: “Best wishes for your China visit, Prime Minister. The recent agreement between India and China to resume trade via the Lipulekh Pass undermines our sovereignty. Please do not forget to remind China that this territory belongs to Nepal. All the best – we have full faith in you.”
Prime Minister Oli departed for a five-day visit to China this morning to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
