‘Malati Mangale’ heads to North America after strong domestic run
The film will be released across major US cities.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali film ‘Malati Mangale’, which has been receiving an overwhelming response from audiences since its nationwide release last Friday, is set to expand its reach to North America.
In collaboration with Seven Seas International Films and Nepal 11 Entertainment, the movie will begin its theatrical run in the United States from Friday, May 15, featuring daily screenings and box office shows.
The film will be released across major US cities including San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Austin. Advance bookings have already shown strong enthusiasm among viewers.
The film will be screened with English subtitles, and its Canadian distribution rights have already been acquired by Aagan Events.
The producers say further international releases are in progress, with several territories reportedly showing “sold-out” interest, and official announcements expected soon.
Producer Ramkrishna Dhakal stated that the growing demand in the diaspora reflects the strong anticipation among international Nepali audiences.
Following its first week in Nepal, the film has been drawing large crowds in cinemas across the country, driven by positive word of mouth.
Audiences have praised the film for delivering a powerful emotional journey—ranging from laughter to tears—describing it as an “exceptional masterpiece rooted in Nepali culture.”
Viewers have particularly appreciated the performances of actress Barsha Raut, along with actors Bijay Baral and Mexam Gaudel. The strong audience response is expected to further accelerate its box office performance in the coming days.
Produced under the banner of Rani Films in collaboration with Uni Entertainment, the film is directed by Praku Pandey, who also developed the story. The screenplay and dialogue are written by Sanyog Guragain.
The cast features Bijay Baral, Barsha Raut, Mexam Gaudel, along with Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Naren Thapa, Manshu Sapkota, Sushma Niraula, and Sunil Tamang in significant roles.
Sagar Gyawali serves as the executive producer, while Babu Subedi, Robin Shrestha, Bedana Karmacharya, Padmawati Gurung, Swikriti Basnet, and Milan Bajgain are credited as co-producers.
The film’s technical team includes cinematographer Mahesh Paudel, editor Romy Moses, colorist Krishna Bhattarai, background score by Tsujil Karmacharya, and sound design by Dikesh Khadka.
