KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Ain Mahar has accused Prime Minister Balen Shah of attempting to appease foreign interests, alleging that his recent statements may have been aimed at pleasing external actors, including India.

Speaking during a session of the House of Representatives, Mahar questioned the intent behind the Prime Minister’s remarks and suggested that they had sparked positive reactions in Indian media.

“Following the Prime Minister’s statement, Indian media appeared to celebrate it. Is our Prime Minister pursuing a strategy to please foreign powers? Is there an attempt to create a favourable environment ahead of visits?” Maher said.

He further raised concerns, pointing out that the chairman of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is currently visiting India, linking it to what he described as broader political developments and timing.
