KATHMANDU: Construction work on the stalled Gautam Buddha Cricket Stadium has resumed after being halted for a month due to delayed payments caused by budget release issues from the Bagmati Province Government.

According to Bharatpur Metropolitan City engineer Adarsha Pokharel, work restarted after the provincial government released Rs 9 crore for the project.

Another municipal division engineer, Santosh Acharya, stated that payments have already been made to the construction company based on submitted bills.

The stadium is being built by the Himalayan Kalinchowk BBR JV construction company.

The current contract deadline is set for Poush 22.

So far, 55 percent of the construction work has been completed.

The agreement between Bharatpur Metropolitan City and the construction company was signed in Asar 2081 BS, with a total project cost of Rs 75 crore 50 lakh 91 thousand 189, aiming for completion by Poush 22, 2083 BS.

The project had previously stalled after the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation was unable to complete the construction, following which the metropolitan city restarted the work through a competitive bidding process.
