Madhesh CM Yadav to get confidence vote support from UML
The confidence vote is scheduled for 4 PM today.
KATHMANDU: Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav is set to take a confidence vote in the provincial assembly today.
Initially appointed with the support of seven political parties, Yadav’s government is expected to gain further stability as the main opposition party, CPN-UML, has also decided to back him.
According to Energy, Irrigation, and Drinking Water Minister Jawaharlal Kushwaha, the confidence vote is scheduled for 4 PM today.
Previously, Yadav had been appointed chief minister with the backing of seven parties excluding the UML.
CPN-UML’s provincial assembly member Sharda Thapa confirmed that the party’s parliamentary meeting formally decided to support Chief Minister Yadav. “Our party has resolved to vote in favor of the Chief Minister, and we will act accordingly in the assembly today,” she said.
Following constitutional requirements, a newly appointed chief minister must seek a confidence vote within 30 days.
With UML’s support, Yadav is expected to secure more than a two-thirds majority, further solidifying his grip on the provincial assembly and marking a new political alignment in Madhesh Province.
