Lamsal’s tears in custody: Actor says 7 years of work lost in seconds

KATHMANDU: Actor Sagar Lamsal expressed heartbreak over losing his reputation in mere seconds after seven years of hard work, following a sexual assault allegation by a young woman in the U.S.

The woman claims the assault occurred a year ago in America.

Lamsal was arrested last Saturday from Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, and is now under intense scrutiny.

However, no formal police complaint has yet been filed against him. Due to this, the police sought permission from the Chief District Officer to detain him under charges of offensive behavior.

On Sunday, CDO Ishwar Raj Paudel approved Lamsal’s five-day police custody for investigation.

Director Raju Giri, who visited Lamsal in custody, said the actor was in tears, lamenting how years of effort vanished in seconds.

Giri added, “Seeing tears in Sagar’s eyes brought tears to mine. Truth will prevail.”
