Leaders, supporters pay tribute to former PM Oli’s father (photos)
The 97-year-old breathed his last today at Bhaktapur-based Nepal Korea Friendship Hospital.
KATHMANDU: Leaders, relatives, and supporters have gathered to pay their respects to Mohan Prasad Oli, father of former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli.
The 97-year-old passed away today at the Bhaktapur-based Nepal-Korea Friendship Hospital. Former Prime Minister Oli and his wife, Radhika Shakya, arrived at the hospital as his body was released.
Mohan Prasad Oli is survived by two sons and three daughters. His body is currently at the hospital premises, where party leaders and supporters, including those from other political parties, have come to offer condolences. CPN Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) also visited earlier today.
Following the tribute, preparations are underway for his last rites, which will be performed today at Pashupati Aryaghat. During the Gen Z movement in Jhapa, Oli’s family home was set on fire, and Oli has stated that he had kept the incident hidden from his father at the time.
