KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has deployed 15 ambulances to transport protesters injured during the ongoing Gen Z demonstrations to hospitals.

According to KMC Police Chief Rajunath Pandey, municipal police have also been mobilized to ensure the injured receive immediate medical attention and swift hospital transfer.

The protests escalated after security forces used gunfire and baton charges against the demonstrators, resulting in several deaths and numerous injuries.

Most of the injured are receiving treatment at Civil Hospital in New Baneshwor, Trauma Center in Mahankal, Tribhuvan Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, and Bir Hospital.

Following reports of overcrowding and shortage of hospital beds, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah instructed authorities to ensure that all patients are transported to hospitals as needed.

KMC has also stated that it will cover the medical expenses of the injured whenever necessary.

Despite a curfew imposed by the Kathmandu District Administration Office in areas including Baneshwor, Middle Baneshwor, Maiti, and Shankhamul, Gen Z protesters have continued their demonstrations in defiance of the order.
