KATHMANDU: A song by Balen Shah titled ‘Jay Mahakaali’ has set a new record as the most-viewed Nepali song on YouTube within 18 hours of release.

Released on Thursday evening, the song amassed an impressive 3,076,975 views by 1:30 PM Friday, making it the fastest-growing Nepali music video in a single day.

The track has surpassed the previous record held by ‘Jane Bhaye Jam Maya’, a collaboration between Durgesh Thapa and Sisan Baniya, which had garnered around 1.63 million views in 24 hours.

That song had earlier broken the record of Bishnu Majhi’s Teej hit ‘Aina Aamma Yo Teejma’, which stood at 1.5 million views.

Interestingly, the audio of ‘Jay Mahakaali’ was originally released 11 years ago.

The newly launched version features a remastered track accompanied by a video showcasing scenes from Shah’s election campaign, giving it renewed popularity and viral momentum.

The rapid success of the song highlights Shah’s strong public appeal, blending music with political storytelling to capture widespread attention online.
