Iranian attack on UAE kills 3, including 1 Nepali citizen

KATHMANDU: An Iranian attack on the United Arab Emirates has killed three people, including one citizen each from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, according to a statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Defence.

The attack left 58 people injured.

The wounded include nationals of the UAE, Egypt, Philippines, India, Pakistan, and Iran, the ministry said.

Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, confirmed that one Nepali national was killed in the incident. “We have received confirmation of the death of one Nepali citizen, but detailed information has not yet been provided,” he said. He added that the UAE authorities have not officially released the identities of the victims.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, Iran launched 165 ballistic missiles during the attack.

Of these, 152 were intercepted, while 13 reportedly fell into the sea.

In addition, two cruise missiles and 541 drones were launched.

Although most of the drones were intercepted, 21 reportedly crashed into residential areas, causing civilian casualties and injuries.
