ICAN holds 10th pre-articleship orientation program

KATHMANDU: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) successfully organized its 10th Pre-Articleship Orientation Program for students who recently passed the CAP II level.

Held on 8th Bhadra 2082, the program’s primary objective was to prepare students for their upcoming Articleship training by focusing on professional attire, culture, behavior, and etiquette.

The event began with welcome remarks from CA Bimal Dangol, ICAN’s Executive Director, who congratulated the students and wished them success in their professional journey. The program was well-attended, with 375 participants joining physically and 28 virtually.

CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar, President of ICAN, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the dedication and hard work required for a career in chartered accountancy.

He highlighted the significant domestic and international opportunities available to qualified professionals and encouraged students to view challenges as a pathway to success.

Following this, CA Anand Raj Sharma Wagle, Vice President, presented on the key aspects of Articleship training.

His presentation covered professional conduct, the responsibilities of both trainees and principals, and the crucial role of Articleship in a student’s career.

Further presentations were given by CA Gaurab Khatiwada, Assistant Director, who detailed policies and procedures related to Articleship deeds, and by CA Raju Gajurel, a member of the Institute, who discussed technological advancements, business process outsourcing, and global opportunities within the accounting sector.

A special session on business and interpersonal communication was conducted by Mr. Rajan Koirala, founder of Mindset Club.

A highlight of the program was the recognition ceremony for the winners of the ICAN Essay Contest, 2025, who were honored with cash prizes and certificates for their achievements.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Council Member CA. Umesh Raj Pandeya, who stressed the importance of communication skills and advised students to prioritize learning throughout their training period.
