KATHMANDU: Opposition parties in the House of Representatives have maintained their stance of not allowing parliamentary proceedings to resume unless Prime Minister Balen Shah withdraws his controversial statement and issues an apology.

Due to the obstruction, the meeting scheduled for 1 PM has yet to begin.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chief Whip Yubaraj Dulal said talks are currently underway between opposition parties and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chief Whip in an effort to resolve the deadlock, but the opposition’s demands remain unchanged.

The opposition is insisting that the Prime Minister appear in the House, apologize, and have the disputed remarks removed from the official parliamentary record.
