Harka demands probe into PM Balen Shah’s Parliament attendance record
Sampang asked the House Secretariat to verify whether Shah had properly registered his attendance during sittings he has participated in.
KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party chair Harka Sampang has called for an official review of Prime Minister Balen Shah’s attendance records in Parliament, raising questions over his legislative status.
Speaking during Tuesday’s parliamentary session, Sampang asked the House Secretariat to verify whether Shah had properly registered his attendance during sittings he has participated in.
“If it is proven that he has not attended or signed the attendance register, then he should not be considered a member of the House of Representatives,” Sampang said. He further argued that under Rule 77 (1) of the House regulations, a person who is not a member of the House cannot continue to hold the office of Prime Minister.
Sampang also requested that official records be presented detailing how many times Shah has attended Parliament and whether he has formally signed the attendance register.
