KATHMANDU: The price of gold in Nepal has risen sharply, following an increase in international markets.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Association, the rate of gold today stands at Rs 205,900 per tola, marking an all-time high.

On Monday, gold was traded at Rs 205,300 per tola, showing a daily increase of Rs 600.

Silver has also seen a rise, with its price going up by Rs 15 to reach Rs 2,485 per tola.

Former president of the association, Manikratna Shakya, stated that the surge in gold prices is driven not by domestic demand, but by global political and economic fluctuations.

International media reports indicate that gold is currently trading at USD 3,494 per ounce in global markets.
