KATHMANDU: Gold prices in the Nepalese market saw a dramatic reversal on Friday after hitting a historic high the previous day.

The price of gold dropped by Rs 4,200 per tola in a single day, signaling significant market volatility.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Association, the price of minted gold is now Rs 235,000 per tola, down from Thursday’s record high of Rs 239,200 per tola—the highest ever recorded in the Nepalese market.

In contrast, silver prices experienced an increase. While silver traded at Rs 3,025 per tola on Thursday, it rose to Rs 3,085 per tola on Friday.

Currently, the price of gold per 10 grams stands at Rs 201,475, while silver is trading at Rs 2,645 per 10 grams.

Market analysts attribute the fluctuations in gold and silver prices to international market trends, the value of the US dollar, and geopolitical developments.

Thursday’s record-breaking surge followed by Friday’s sharp decline has sparked heightened interest among both investors and consumers.
