KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited (GIBL) and the Floriculture Association Nepal have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the use of greenhouse technology in flower cultivation and ornamental horticulture, alongside developing an accessible credit system for the sector.

The MoU was signed by Ashim Karmacharya, Head of Infrastructure and Project Financing at the bank, and Rajesh Bhakt Shrestha, President of the Floriculture Association Nepal.

Under the agreement, the bank will provide specialized greenhouse loans targeting flower entrepreneurs and farmers, while the association will inform its members about the bank’s agricultural credit programs.

The collaboration is expected to boost flower production and productivity, promote greenhouse technology, enhance quality infrastructure and services, and encourage sustainable business practices.

It is also aimed at motivating flower growers and entrepreneurs to adopt climate-resilient practices and modern technologies.

Both institutions believe that this partnership will expand financial access for greenhouse investments, increase the production of flowers and ornamental plants, and strengthen productivity in Nepal’s floriculture sector.
