KATHMANDU: The Legislative Management Committee under the National Assembly has finalized the mandatory retirement age for federal civil servants, in line with the provisions passed by the House of Representatives.

During a meeting held today at Singha Durbar, the committee reached a consensus to manage the previously disputed retirement provisions of the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080, in three phases.

According to the agreement, once the bill is enacted, civil servants will retire due to age limits at 58 in the first year of implementation, 59 in the second year, and 60 from the third year onwards.

If both houses of parliament pass the bill and it receives presidential assent, civil servants reaching 58 this year will retire, followed by those turning 59 and 60 under the phased provisions.

The bill will become law only after approval by both the National Assembly and the House of Representatives and subsequent certification by the President.
