KATHMANDU: In Kathmandu’s Tinkune area, royalist supporters have been staging a protest demanding the restoration of the monarchy.

Tensions escalated between the protesters and the police, leading to the use of tear gas by the authorities.

The police intervened, charging the protesters with batons and firing tear gas after they attempted to enter a restricted area.

This resulted in a tense situation at the protest site.

Following the police action, Durga Prasai, one of the organizers, left the protest site but later returned.

He called for both the police and his supporters to remain calm.

During this period of unrest, angry royalist protesters also reportedly vandalized homes.
