KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress MP Dr. Shekhar Koirala has warned that if the party’s convention does not take place by the end of Mangsir 2083, the Nepali Congress will become weaker.

Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Friday, Dr. Koirala emphasized that the party must hold its convention within the specified time frame to avoid losing its strength.

He urged party members to pay attention to this matter, calling it a very serious issue.

“If the Nepali Congress convention is not held by the end of Mangsir 2083, the party will become weaker. Let’s focus on this, my friends. This is a very serious matter,” he said. “If we do not raise our voices, no one will. The convention is needed by you all and by us too.”

He further stated that if they, the leaders, do not raise their voices for the timely conduct of the convention, no one else would.

Dr. Koirala also directed his close colleagues and party activists to write on social media, stressing the importance of holding the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress by Mangsir 2083.

He said that if the pressure is exerted, the party would be unable to withstand it.

“You need to speak up. I see you writing something every day on social media. Write one thing from my side: the 15th General Convention of Nepali Congress must be held by the end of Mangsir 2083. See how much pressure it creates. It will create such pressure that no one can withstand it. The active convention will determine who comes, who wins, and who loses, and that is for us to decide.”

Dr. Koirala concluded by saying that with collective effort, Nepal can be developed. He emphasized that the Nepali Congress must remain united to drive the country’s progress.

He also dismissed claims of any discord between him and party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, stating there was no bitterness between them.
