KATHMANDU: Movie starring Ranveer Singh has taken the box office by storm, breaking multiple records since its release and emerging as one of the biggest hits in Bollywood history.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has delivered the largest opening ever for a Hindi film and went on to become the highest-grossing Hindi film in its first week.

By its second week, the film had surpassed nearly every major box office benchmark in the industry.

By its second Monday, the film had earned INR 872 crore net (1,000 crore gross) in India alone, making Dhurandhar 2 the highest-grossing Bollywood film in the country.

It overtakes its predecessor, Dhurandhar, which previously held the record with INR 840 crore net. Jawan now ranks third with INR 640 crore.

Globally, the film has also made a significant impact, becoming the third-highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time.

Within 12 days, it has collected INR 1,392 crore worldwide, including INR 350 crore from overseas markets.

If it surpasses the lifetime earnings of the first Dhurandhar (INR 1,428 crore) and Dangal (INR 2,070 crore), it could become the highest-grossing Bollywood film globally.

The film is also making strong inroads in southern India. It is closing in on the record for the highest-grossing non-South Indian film in the region, currently held by Avatar: The Way of Water, which earned INR 297 crore across the four southern states.

So far, Dhurandhar 2 has grossed over INR 226 crore in the region.

Based on a story of revenge and gang warfare, the film features a star-studded cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R. Madhavan. It is written, directed and produced by Aditya Dhar.

With a runtime of 3 hours and 49 minutes, the film is also the second longest Bollywood production of the 21st century, adding another distinction to its record-breaking run.
