Death toll rises to 9 in ongoing Gen Z protests

KATHMANDU: The ongoing Gen Z protests in Kathmandu have claimed the lives of nine protesters so far.

Injured demonstrators succumbed to their injuries at various hospitals across the city.

At the Trauma Center alone, five protesters died, while Civil Hospital reported two fatalities.

An additional protester passed away at Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), and another was shot dead outside the Parliament building.

Authorities have not yet confirmed how many of the deaths were caused by gunfire.

The protests, which have escalated in recent days, continue to pose serious challenges for law enforcement and medical responders in the capital.
