KATHMANDU: National Assembly and CPN-UML parliamentary party leader Prem Prasad Dangol has demanded the resignation of Finance Minister Wagle, accusing him of altering tax rates after the budget and revenue estimates were already presented in Parliament.

Speaking during Monday’s House of Representatives meeting on the upcoming fiscal year’s budget discussions, Dangol claimed that changing tax rates after the presentation of the financial bill and budget estimates constitutes a serious wrongdoing.

He argued that such actions warrant an immediate investigation and the formation of a parliamentary probe committee, along with strict action against those responsible.

He further asserted that changes in tax policy at that stage could not have happened without leadership-level involvement, insisting that the finance minister must resign.

Dangol also expressed doubts over the implementation of several “positive provisions” included in the government’s budget, questioning whether they would be effectively executed.

He urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability in the budget process and to investigate the alleged irregularities thoroughly.
