Cyclist killed in bus collision

KATHMANDU: A 54-year-old cyclist was killed after being hit by a bus on Madan Bhandari Highway in Letang Municipality-5, Morang.

The accident occurred when a bus (Province 1–01–001 Kh 4707) traveling from Kakadvitta to Biratnagar collided with a cyclist coming from the opposite direction toward Letang.

The victim, Yogendra Thapa of Letang Municipality-9, suffered severe head and bodily injuries and was rushed to Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar, where doctors declared him dead around 11 a.m.

Police said the bus and its driver, 32-year-old Dorna Khawas from Dhulabari Municipality-10, Jhapa, have been taken into custody.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
