CPN-UML report: No alternative to Oli in future leadership
Addressing media misinterpretations, Gautam clarified that some reports had falsely portrayed the discussions held on the third day of the convention.
KATHMANDU: A report presented at the second statute convention of the CPN (CPN-UML) in Lalitpur states that there is no alternative to current Party Chair KP Sharma Oli in the party’s future leadership.
During discussions among various factions at the convention, leaders emphasized that KP Sharma Oli remains irreplaceable in the leadership position, according to Rajendra Gautam, the party’s head of the Publicity and Publication Department and a permanent committee member of CPN-UML.
Addressing media misinterpretations, Gautam clarified that some reports had falsely portrayed the discussions held on the third day of the convention.
He also refuted claims regarding amendments to the party’s statute, particularly concerning the age limit and two-term restrictions, which had been misrepresented in the press.
“The leaders from seven provinces and three non-geographical groups have consolidated their feedback and submitted a report in the closed session,” Gautam said. “All ten groups have proposed that individuals who have already held constitutional positions, including the President and Vice President, should not be allowed to return to the party.”
Prominent figures from across Nepal, including Sudurpashchim Province Committee Chairman Krishna Prasad Jaisi, Karnali Province Chair Gulab Jung Shah, Lumbini Province Chairman Radhakrishna Kandel, Gandaki Province Vice-Chair Min Prasad Gurung, Bagmati Province Chair Kailash Dhungel, Madhesh Province Chairman Chandreshwar Mandal, Koshi Province Chair Ghanshyam Khatiwada, and non-geographical members Shiva Adhikari, Chudamani Jungali, and Bhakta Gurung, presented their respective reports on the matter.
