Country’s dignity cannot be compromised: PM Oli
Chair Oli made it clear that the party would always oppose any actions or behaviors that undermine the country’s integrity and dignity. “We have never backed down from defending national sovereignty, and we will never accept any act that humiliates our nation,” Oli stated.
KATHMANDU: Addressing the closing session of the 10th General Convention of the (CPN-UML) at the Sunrise Conference Center in Godawari, Lalitpur, Prime Minister and party Chair KP Sharma Oli emphasized that while many things can be tolerated, the dignity of the nation would never be compromised.
In his speech, Chair Oli made it clear that the party would always oppose any actions or behaviors that undermine the country’s integrity and dignity. “We have never backed down from defending national sovereignty, and we will never accept any act that humiliates our nation,” Oli stated.
Oli strongly criticized the behavior of certain individuals, asserting that although social media is not the target of the CPN-UML, the party will not tolerate unlawful activities in the name of business. “Some people have turned into puppets, simply opposing everything without any purpose,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister also addressed intellectuals who, in his view, mislead society with flawed thinking. He said that while certain so-called intellectuals have attempted to stir up division in the society, the younger “Gen Z” generation, who are often targeted, actually loves and values their country deeply.
Reflecting on the government’s decision to regulate social media, Oli pointed out that the country’s sovereignty and freedom were of far greater importance than the grievances of individuals. “Losing the job of four people is insignificant compared to the freedom of the nation. No one has the right to ignore the constitution, disregard national sovereignty, or defy the rule of law,” Oli asserted.
He also reiterated the party’s commitment to reducing inequality and promoting social justice. “Our policy is clear – to address inequality and eliminate discrimination,” he added, outlining the party’s ongoing efforts to realize its vision through its “Mission 84” initiative. “CPN-UML is progressing with a clear focus on advancing our national objectives, including full implementation of policies that benefit the people and nation.”
Oli’s remarks underscored his resolve to maintain the country’s independence and dignity in the face of external and internal challenges, while also reaffirming the party’s stance on national unity and progressive governance.
