KATHMANDU: Citizens Bank International Limited has launched a wide-reaching financial literacy initiative aimed at raising financial awareness among the general public during the current fiscal year 2081/82.

The bank has conducted a series of financial literacy programs through its 148 branch offices located across all seven provinces of Nepal.

According to the bank, the programs were delivered through 19 branches in Koshi Province, 16 in Madhesh Province, 47 in Bagmati Province, 14 in Gandaki Province, 32 in Lumbini Province, 11 in Karnali Province, and 9 in Sudurpashchim Province.

These initiatives targeted diverse groups including individuals from different age groups, women, students, farmers, laborers, aspiring migrant workers, and other segments of society.

The bank reports that the programs successfully imparted financial knowledge to tens of thousands of people across these regions.

Participants were educated on the importance and necessity of financial literacy in today’s economy, particularly in the context of the rapid growth of digital banking and the associated risks and financial crimes that can arise from it.

In addition, the programs emphasized the importance of conducting financial transactions—such as cash handling, transfers, and remittances—through formal banking channels.

The bank believes that such initiatives will not only strengthen the overall banking system but also enhance financial understanding and discipline among the general public.
