Budget allocates funds to rebuild govt buildings damaged in Gen-Z movement

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has announced that the government will prioritize strengthening and rebuilding public buildings damaged during last Bhadra’s Gen-Z movement.

Presenting the national budget in a joint session of the Federal Parliament, he stated that necessary budget provisions have been allocated for the reconstruction and reinforcement of affected government structures.

The government has also ensured funding for the completion of post-earthquake reconstruction of private and public housing in districts such as Jajarkot and West Rukum, which were severely impacted by recent earthquakes.

Additionally, Minister Wagle said that a local connectivity improvement program will be implemented to link local government centers that are not yet connected to the national road network with nearby national highways or provincial capitals, aiming to improve access and service delivery.

He further announced an allocation of NPR 5.14 billion for the construction of suspension bridges across the country to enhance rural mobility and connectivity.
