KATHMANDU: Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Ousmane Dembele have been named FIFA ‘The Best’ football players for 2025.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday.
Bonmati made history by winning the FIFA Best Women’s Player award for the third consecutive year, becoming the first female player to achieve this feat.
Her exceptional performances for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team earned her this prestigious recognition.
On the men’s side, PSG and France forward Dembélé claimed the FIFA Best Men’s Player 2025 award.
He played a pivotal role in PSG’s historic season, helping the club win the French League, Coupe de France, and the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
The winners of FIFA ‘The Best’ awards are selected based on votes from fans, national team coaches, captains, and journalists.
Dembele, 28, had an outstanding 2024–25 season, contributing directly to 51 goals in 53 matches and securing four major trophies for PSG.
Earlier in September, he also won the Ballon d’Or. He outshone Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe to claim this top honor.
With these victories, Bonmati and Dembele have once again cemented their status as the world’s elite footballers.
