KATHMANDU: Bamdev Gautam, who was preparing to contest the House of Representatives elections from the Nepal Communist Party, has decided not to run.
The decision came after party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) denied him a ticket.
Gautam had intended to contest from Bardiya-1, but the party gave the seat to Bishnu Prasad Tharu, while Suresh Panta was nominated from Bardiya-2.
Earlier, Gautam had resigned from his position as a National Assembly member to prepare for the parliamentary elections.
He had lost the Bardiya-1 seat in the 2017 elections and had been serving in the National Assembly, with his term scheduled to end on March 4.
