KATHMANDU: Construction of the international-standard cricket stadium at Tribhuvan University (TU) premises in Kirtipur has reached a new milestone with the installation of all six floodlight towers.

According to the construction contractor, two towers were erected on Sunday, completing the installation of all six high-mast poles.

Each tower—ranging from 45 to 60 meters in height and weighing around 30 tons—is now in place.

Partial lighting has already been installed on towers No. 1, 4, 5, and 6, while the remaining two will soon be equipped with lights, project chief Chakravarti Kantha confirmed.

Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising had inspected the under-construction stadium on Oct 9.

During the visit, both contractors pledged to complete the parapet and floodlight installation before the start of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which begins on Nov 17.

The parapet construction has already been completed.

The government has also approved a master plan and declared the project a national priority.

The Cabinet meeting held on Oct 16 endorsed the Ministry of Urban Development’s proposal to expand the stadium under its second construction phase, allocating an estimated budget of around Rs 10 billion for the project.
