KATHMANDU: The premiere of the upcoming Nepali film “Ek Muthi Badal” was held on Wednesday, ahead of its theatrical release starting this Friday.

At the event, lead actress Aanchal Sharma made a striking entrance resembling a bride, dressed in a red gown designed by Manish Rai and wearing a long veil, accompanied by the rhythmic performance of a traditional women’s Naumati Baja ensemble.

Directed by Sahar Sharma, the premiere itself reflected the film’s central theme by placing women’s presence and experiences at the forefront.

The film features Aanchal Sharma in the role of “Maili,” a character navigating the emotional complexities, social expectations, and personal experiences tied to marriage preparations.

The story portrays the life of a middle-class Nepali family with a realistic approach, a style that has already drawn positive attention from audiences and critics alike.

Director Sahar Sharma shared that “Ek Muthi Badal” is based on emotions and experiences of women that are often underrepresented in Nepali cinema.

Producers Abhimanyu Dixit, Samipya Raj Timilsina, Nikun Shrestha, and Anup Paudel welcomed guests alongside the director. Attendees praised the film’s storyline, performances, and narrative style during the event.

A post-premiere interaction session with artists and the production team focused on filmmaking, representation, and the importance of local stories in contemporary cinema.

“We have made this film from the heart. Now it is your responsibility to watch it, talk about it, and take it to a wider audience,” said producer Abhimanyu Dixit.

“Ek Muthi Badal” will hit theaters this Friday, with advance ticket booking already open for audiences.
