KATHMANDU: Four people have declared their candidacy for Vice President. Three alliance candidates and one UML candidate have been nominated for the post of vice president.
According to the Presidential and Vice Presidential Election Office in New Baneshwor, Astalaxmi Shakya of the UML, Ram Sahaya Yadav and Pramila Yadav of the JSP, and Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party were all nominated for Vice President on Saturday.
The election officer’s office was open today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office stated that the list of candidates will be made public shortly.
The top leaders of 10 parties, including Aam Janata Party Chair Prabhu Shah, could not reach an agreement on the candidature of the alliance in a discussion held in Baluwatar this morning.
As a result, the 10-party coalition has chosen three candidates. Although three candidates from ten parties were nominated on Saturday, it is expected that the final decision will be made tomorrow during a meeting of the top leaders.
Following this, it is expected that two alliance members will withdraw their candidacy.
