NEW DELHI: At least three Naxals were killed Thursday in a fierce gunfight with police in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.
The encounter broke out in the forest area of Gollapalli in Sukma district, about 510 km south of the state capital Raipur.
Police carried out the operation based on intelligence about Naxal presence without suffering any casualties.
India’s state-run broadcaster All India Radio said additional police and paramilitary teams have been deployed to the area.
The federal government has resolved to eradicate Naxalism by March 31, 2026.
