KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has engaged in discussions with the whips of various political parties regarding the ongoing disruption in the parliamentary session.

According to the Speaker’s private secretariat, the meeting took place in his office at New Baneshwor, with representatives from five major political parties in the federal parliament participating.

The session, which was initially scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., started late.

As soon as it commenced, opposition parties raised concerns over the government’s dismissal of Kulman Ghising from his position as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), leading to a disruption in the session.

Following the disruption, Speaker Ghimire temporarily suspended the session and initiated a dialogue to address the issue.

The discussion saw the participation of leaders from Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

The talks aim to resolve the deadlock and allow the session to resume smoothly.
