KATHMANDU: The government has begun a nationwide campaign from Sunday and Monday (Baisakh 6 and 7) to administer Vitamin A capsules and deworming medicine to children across the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, around 2.2 million children aged 6 to 59 months are being given Vitamin A capsules, while approximately 2 million children aged 1 to under 5 years are receiving deworming tablets (Albendazole).

For the successful implementation of the campaign, 52,000 female community health volunteers and 15,000 health workers have been deployed across various vaccination and distribution centres nationwide.

Health officials say the biannual programme, conducted every Baisakh and Kartik, plays a crucial role in improving children’s vision, strengthening immunity, and reducing malnutrition.

The ministry has urged all parents and guardians to take their children to the nearest health centre to ensure they receive the essential supplements on time.
