KATHMANDU: Children aged 12 to 17 who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will receive a booster dose starting today. Adolescents aged 12 to 17 years who have been vaccinated for more than three months will receive a booster dose starting today.

The government vaccinated children in that age group with the first and second doses of Moderna and Pfizer. Both of these vaccines are also available in booster doses. It is stated that 0.3 ml of Pfizer vaccine should be given in the booster and 0.25 ml of modern vaccine booster.

According to the Child Health and Immunization Branch of the Family Welfare Division, the second dose of booster dose should be applied within three months. The ministry is preparing to give Pfizer vaccine to children between the ages of 5 and 11 from July 23.

Vaccination centers have been set up in schools across the country in two phases to vaccinate 4.9 million children. A vaccination campaign will be launched in 27 districts at first. Following that, a vaccination campaign in the remaining 50 districts will be launched.
