KATHMANDU: In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmaker Manish Jha highlighted concerns over irregularities within the Language Commission, pointing out that Krishna Prasad Nyaupane has been working there for three years, raising questions about the country’s administrative functioning.

During the urgent session, Jha also criticized the negligence in constitutional appointments, stating that such lapses reflect poorly on how the country is being governed.

Referring to page 46 of the Visit Visa report, he cited the mention of “human trafficking” and demanded legal action against those involved.

He further questioned the morality of the Chairperson of the State Affairs Committee regarding the controversial ‘cooling-off period’ issue and called for his resignation.

Meanwhile, MP Roshan Karki condemned the exploitation of Nepali citizens under the guise of visit visas, alleging that people are being trafficked abroad. She mentioned that the fourth and fifth largest parties in parliament have raised opposition against this malpractice.

Karki criticized the prolonged obstruction by two parties in parliament, which has prevented addressing these pressing concerns, suggesting that the parliament seems more accountable to the government than to the people.

Both the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) boycotted today’s parliamentary session.

At the start of the meeting, Speaker Devaraj Ghimire acknowledged the protests by RSP and RPP members and granted MPs Jha and Karki time during the urgent session to address the house. After their speeches, members of both parties left the meeting hall in protest.
