The announcement comes amid recent speculation that Ronaldo might leave Al-Nassr and return to European football.
KATHMANDU: Cristiano Ronaldo has officially signed a new two-year contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, extending his stay until 2027 and securing an annual income exceeding £178 million (around Rs 30.26 billion), according to multiple media reports.
The announcement comes amid recent speculation that Ronaldo might leave Al-Nassr and return to European football.
Despite being the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League for two consecutive seasons, Ronaldo was unable to lead his team to a league title or secure qualification for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Following a disappointing end to the 2024–25 season, rumors of his potential departure had intensified.
However, in a statement shared via Al-Nassr’s social media channels, the club confirmed: “Cristiano Ronaldo will stay with Al-Nassr until 2027,” effectively ending all speculations about a possible exit.
Contract Details and Earnings
Ronaldo’s new deal includes several lucrative bonuses and perks, making it one of the most valuable contracts in football history. Key highlights of the agreement are:

£24.5 million signing bonus, increasing to £38 million in the second year
-
£8 million bonus if Al-Nassr wins the Saudi Pro League
-

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2023 and has since played a pivotal role in elevating the profile of Saudi football on the global stage.
His arrival triggered a wave of high-profile international players moving to Saudi clubs, significantly boosting the league’s visibility and competitiveness.
Despite ending last season in third place and without a title, Ronaldo had expressed on social media that a “chapter had ended,” hinting at possible changes. But the new contract marks a major shift, reaffirming his commitment to Al-Nassr and the Saudi football project.

Ronaldo’s Impact on Saudi Football
Ronaldo’s influence extends beyond the pitch. A senior official from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which oversees clubs like Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli, credited him for being a catalyst in transforming the Saudi football landscape. “In the past two years, Cristiano Ronaldo has played a crucial role in the development of the Saudi Pro League,” the official said. “He opened the door for world-class players and inspired the younger generation.”
With this new deal, Ronaldo not only secures one of the most lucrative contracts in sports but also reinforces his central role in shaping the future of football in the Middle East.
