KATHMANDU: The Nepal Red Cross Society, Kathmandu District Chapter, has announced that it will deploy first aid volunteers at 30 polling centers during Thursday’s House of Representatives election.

Four volunteers will provide services at each center across Kathmandu Metropolitan City and 10 other municipalities.

In addition, the district chapter has prepared a separate seven-member team with an ambulance to respond to emergencies.

Shyamkaji Dotel, president of the district chapter, said the arrangement was made to ensure immediate first aid services in case of emergencies at polling sites. “First aid volunteers will provide prompt assistance to anyone in need of medical attention,” he stated.

Ahead of the elections, the district chapter organized an orientation program for the volunteers, covering topics such as first aid refreshers, safe access, psychosocial support, and psychological first aid through both theoretical and practical sessions.

The chapter has a history of mobilizing volunteers in various humanitarian service activities.
