KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Chapter of the Nepal Red Cross Society has mobilized first aid volunteers at 30 polling centers across the district during the ongoing House of Representatives election.

According to the chapter, four trained volunteers have been deployed at each polling center located within Kathmandu Metropolitan City and 10 other local municipalities.

The initiative aims to ensure immediate medical assistance in case of emergencies during the voting process.

In addition to the stationed volunteers, the district chapter has kept a seven-member standby team equipped with an ambulance on high alert to respond swiftly to any urgent situation.

District Chairperson Shyam Kaji Dotel said the preparations were made considering the possibility of emergency health situations at polling sites. “First aid volunteers are providing immediate assistance to those in need at the polling centers,” he stated.

Prior to deployment, the chapter organized an orientation program for the volunteers. The training covered refresher courses on first aid, safe access procedures, psychosocial support, and psychological first aid through both theoretical and practical sessions.

The Nepal Red Cross Society has been continuously mobilizing volunteers to carry out various humanitarian services, reinforcing its commitment to public safety and community support during major national events.
